Introduction
The decision to sign up for a 200-hour yoga teacher training program came from a desire for personal growth and wanting something different in my life. Yoga has had a big impact on my life, and I wanted to share that with others. Little did I know how significantly this journey would shape me.
The Call for Something New
Yoga had already become a big part of my life as a student. It brought me moments of stillness, strength, and self-discovery. Learning about a 200-hour yoga teacher training program from a fellow student is where my interest started. Despite initial doubts, I gathered the courage to invest in myself and take the leap and sign up for a 200-hour yoga teacher training myself.
Stepping into the Unknown
As I walked into the yoga studio on the first day of training, a mix of nerves and excitement filled me. Meeting a diverse group of like-minded individuals who shared a common desire to embark on this journey reassured me that I was on the right path. The experienced teachers welcomed us warmly and provided an overview of the program, setting the stage for the weeks to come.
Deepening my Practice
The training immediately immersed us in the practice of yoga, both physically and emotionally. Through daily practice and shared experiences, we quickly became friends, forming a supportive community. While the journey was challenging, the growth and self-discovery that came with it made every effort worthwhile.
Knowledge Beyond Asanas
The training extended far beyond physical postures. We delved into the philosophical teachings of yoga, exploring ancient texts and understanding their relevance in our modern lives. Concepts such as the energy body, chakras, and pranayama expanded our understanding of yoga’s subtle aspects. This newfound knowledge broadened my perspective and deepened my connection with the practice.
Finding My Voice as a Yoga Teacher
As a non-native English speaker, developing my teaching skills wasn’t always easy. However, step by step, I learned how to create well-structured classes, offer clear cues, and provide modifications. The asana lab classes allowed me to discover my own unique voice as a future yoga teacher, building confidence along the way one step at a time.
The Community
Throughout the training, I created meaningful connections and friendships. The sense of support, acceptance, and non-judgment within the group was something I had never experienced before. We celebrated each other’s successes, encouraged one another on difficult days, and formed lasting bonds that extended beyond the training program.
Embracing the Transformation
As the training approached the end, I felt a mix of gratitude, sadness, and excitement. I was grateful for the journey and excited for the new beginning awaiting me. With new knowledge and skills, I started on a new path that felt more aligned with my passions and values.
Since completing my 200-hour yoga teacher training, I have taught yoga full-time for years, led yoga retreats, and founded The Peaceful Warriors Yoga School, inspired by the profound impact of my own journey that all started the day I decided to join a 200-hour yoga teacher training.
