Online Yoga Teacher Training: Pros and Cons of Virtual Learning

Are you considering becoming a certified yoga instructor? Choosing the right certified yoga instructor training program can be difficult.

With so many options available, it can be challenging to determine which one is the best fit for you.

In this article, we’ll guide you through the process of selecting the best Certified Yoga Instructor Training for you.

1.  Research the Yoga School

The first step in choosing the best certified yoga instructor training is to research the yoga school. Is the school well-known and has a demonstrated history of graduating accomplished yoga instructors. A good way to start your research is to check out the website of the yoga school, their Instagram and online presence overall.2.

2. Check Reviews

One of the best ways to get a sense of a school’s reputation is to read reviews from past students. Google reviews are a great resource for this as these reviews are published by the students and not the school itself. We also recommend to reach out to past students to ask about their experience and whether they would recommend the yoga instructor training program. 3,4.

3. How Long Has the School Been Around?

Find out how long the school has been offering certified yoga instructor training programs. A school that has been around for a while is likely to have a more established program and a comprehensive curriculum, and it minimizes the risk of a training being cancelled due to not being able to get enough participants.

4. Founder-Led Training

Consider a yoga instructor training program that is led by the founder of the yoga school. This type of training can be advantageous because the founder possesses an in-depth understanding of the school’s philosophy, values, and teaching methods, and typically has a strong dedication to their students.

5. The Team of Teachers

When choosing a certified yoga instructor training program, it’s important to know who will be teaching you. Look for a school that has a team of experienced and knowledgeable senior teachers, rather than just 1-2 teachers. This ensures that each teacher is specialized in their field of knowledge and is an expert in their respective area.

6. What’s included

Check what’s included in the yoga instructor training program. Some trainings offer food and accommodation as a non-optional part of the program, while others provide more flexibility for students to choose to stay onsite or have their own offsite accommodation and arrange their own meals. This flexibility allows students to tailor their experience to their specific needs and preferences.

7. Type of Yoga Taught

The type of yoga taught is a significant aspect to consider when selecting a certified yoga instructor training program. It’s important to select a program that aligns with your personal interests and style of practice.

8. Duration and Flexibility of the Training

The duration and flexibility of the training program are important factors to consider when choosing a certified yoga instructor training program. How long is the training and does the school offer Hybrid study options?

9. Access to Online Materials

Access to online materials is a significant advantage. Some yoga schools provide complimentary access to their Online certified yoga instructor training Course. Look for a program that offers this!

10. Support After the Training

Find out what level of support the school offers after completing the training. Does the school offer ways to stay connected, continue learning, and be a part of the community even after the training has finished?

11. Outings and Exploration

Consider whether the yoga instructor training program includes any outings or opportunities for exploration during the teacher training program (such as days off). These outings provide a chance to explore the local culture, making your training experience even more memorable.

12. Location, Location, Location

It’s also important to consider the location of the yoga instructor training program. Would you prefer to do the training in Bali or somewhere else? Do you prefer a location near the beach or in the mountains? It’s also important to have a closer look at the shala (yoga space) since you will be spending a significant amount of time there

13. Is the Yoga School Registered with Yoga Alliance?

Yoga Alliance is the largest international association that represents the yoga community. Being registered with Yoga Alliance means that a school has met certain standards for teacher training. When choosing a certified yoga instructor training program, it’s important to look for a school that is registered with Yoga Alliance.

Choosing the best certified yoga instructor training program can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. By considering the factors we’ve discussed, you can make an informed decision and choose a program that aligns with your needs and preferences. “It has been a journey that I will be forever grateful for!”

It forced me dive into myself & is helping me to begin to establish a relationship between my physical body, my mind and my soul.

Some days I thought were “rock bottom” … but it only made me realize that was part of the journey, the journey of trusting myself of becoming my own “hero” the person who I’ve always been but have never really trusted! All these “things” I see as signs from the universe telling myself to trust ME to believe in ME and to hear ME … to L O V E me as I am and accept all the little “flaws” that comes with being a human and all.

But I couldn’t have done it without all these beautiful souls, these magical humans who were always there to listen to just “one more story” of why “I’m crying right now” or to give me some ibuprofen when my muscles ached or to pay for a cab ride back to the hotel when I didn’t have any more cash on me and didn’t sweat it cause “it happens to all of us” or that person who believed in me more than I did when I finally landed that “tri-pod headstand” and says “I told you, you could do it!” Or that person who held my hand while I got stitches for the first time & for that I’m so thankful to you all ♥︎ .

if that weren’t enough the universe blessed me with some great teachers. So knowledgeable while being so understanding when we were faced with feeling frustrated. Teachers Who would stay 15 (or more) minutes after a two hour lecture or practice making sure they answered all our questions … & to our yoga philosophy teachers who knew some subjects were hard & uncomfortable and gave us time to absorve it all and were understanding if we (me) shed a tear and needed a moment to ourselves. Thank you @thepeacefulwarriorsyoga for this journey I couldn’t be more grateful!

“…most incredible group of students”

To put the last month into words is impossible, to put into feelings is impossible and to put into emotions is even more impossible.

When I signed up for my yoga teaching course I genuinely didn’t expect so learn so much about myself, I didn’t expect to open my heart and open my mind as much and sure as hell didn’t expect to open my tear ducts as much.

I think I’m still trying to process, or even being to process the learnings and new ways of thinking. So from here, the learnings & new practices have only began. From here, I’m nervous for a new future and from here all I can say is fuk yes.

Thank you  @thepeacefulwarriorsyoga for this journey. Thank you to the most incredible group of students I got to share this with, and thank you to all my incredible teachers legit you’ve changed my life. 😭

“…thank you for sharing this journey with me”

It’s official, completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training with  @thepeacefulwarriorsyoga. Without sounding cliché, this journey was life changing. When we think of yoga we often only think of the physical practice, poses, turning oneself into a pretzel! It’s the western way of thinking, and we forget about the connection to the mind and soul. We forget that yoga is also about the breath, meditation, energy systems and the power of what this connection can bring to our lives. I am full of gratitude! I have found a deeper purpose from this journey and I look forward to what lies ahead to help others live a more healthy, and meaningful life.

To all my teachers Bente, Maria, Sean, Rachel, Analu, Magdalena thank you for inspiring me, I have a light inside that is shining brighter then ever!
And to my fellow classmates, thank you for sharing this journey with me, for being vulnerable, and for being courageous! I do not believe we came together by chance, but more so to each learn and grow from one another.
